I praise the Lord for the ministry of this church. My soul has been profoundly blessed and my love for Christ and His people has greatly increased under this church. It amazes me how the Lord is using the faithful preaching of His Word to transform me the way that He is. It’s hard to describe unless you come. Come and be fed by solid preaching. For those who aren’t saved, come and hear, since it’s only by the hearing and believing of the Word of God that we can be saved by faith in Jesus Christ the Lord. ~ homemaker23
So grateful for the work of FPC in making the sermons of Dr. Cairns available freely. Recently I realized that my frequent absence from the Church (I am a truck driver and rarely am able to attend services) was a major factor in my spiritual depression and corruption. I thank God for the Sermon Audio app, and in particular for Dr. Cairns and his fervent devotion to Christ and the teaching of the Scriptures. His sermons may seem old fashioned and harsh to some, but no good comes from changing the Word to fit the world. ~ Toby H
I greatly appreciate the ministry of this place and people. So often life drops me off tired and weary at the end of a long week and I’m able to come to this church for rest and honesty. What a great privilege it is to interact with the people here who bring great joy and encouragement to my family and I. There is rest for the weary soul in this church. No gimmicks, just love for God, his truth, and his people. ~ Don W

Questions & Answers

How does the Presbyterian church engage in missions and evangelism?
While the answer to this can vary depending on the congregation, historically, Presbyterian churches have been actively involved in missions and evangelism, both locally and globally. The Free Presbyterian Church in particular believes the gospel should be preached to every person. Active, intentional evangelism is encouraged.
What are the main Presbyterian creeds and confessions?
The primary creeds and confessions include the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Westminster Larger Catechism, and the Westminster Shorter Catechism. These documents articulate key theological beliefs, including the nature of God, the role of Scripture, and the doctrines of salvation.
What is the role of elders in a Presbyterian church?
Elders in a Presbyterian church are responsible for spiritual leadership, governance, and pastoral care. They work with the pastor to shepherd the congregation, oversee worship, administer sacraments, and provide guidance on church matters. Elders are elected by members of the local congregation and serve as part of the church’s governing body, the session. They also participate in the larger governing body of the presbytery, which is made up of the elders and ministers of other congregations.
How do Presbyterians interpret the Bible?
Presbyterians interpret the Bible as the inspired and infallible Word of God, using a covenantal and Christ-centered approach. They believe in the importance of the original languages, historical context, and the overall narrative of Scripture. The Bible is seen as authoritative for faith and practice, and interpretation is guided by the principles of the Reformed tradition.
What is the Presbyterian form of church government?
Presbyterian churches are governed by elected bodies of elders. Local churches are overseen by a session of elders, which includes teaching elders (ministers) and ruling elders. These sessions are part of larger governing bodies called presbyteries, which oversee multiple congregations and provide a broader network of accountability and support.
